Wee Morning Hours

I'm seriously jet-lagged, having done the ten hour trip from Vancouver to Tokyo (and no, I'm not unaware of the irony there) . I've had to go through immigration and customs, have learned that it does not take 1,000 Yen (about $10) to go from Tokyo station to Omiya where my hotel is (it's about $2.50, something I discovered after having used up a $10 ticket), have discovered that green tea does not do good things to laptop computer keyboards (I'm now typing on a lovely new portable keyboard with Kanji characters on the keys' faces), and am staying in the smallest hotel room I've ever been in in my life (the walk-in closet of my house is marginally bigger).

The conference starts in about four hours, I'm busily typing away on last minute stuff, and will report future progress once my two classes, on XSLT2 and XForms respectively, wrap up. I'll also be at the Stump the SVG Gurus Panel at 5:30, though given I've had maybe five hours of sleep in the last forty, it may be (for me) stump the fat Night of the Living Dead extra.

Oh, and unbeknownst to me we had a 6 Richter earthquake here in Tokyo last night. With all the train rides, I didn't notice it, but if these reports stop unexpectedly, blame the Tsunami.
